Andreau Charles, LMSW

I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals and couples who struggle with issues such as anxiety, depression, major life transitions, and marital, professional, or careeer conflicts. I also work with men’s issues, LGBTQ issues, and multicultural and diasporic issues and concerns.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I had a military career and was involved as a provider and advocate of HIV/AIDS, poverty reduction, substance abuse, and mental health programs in the Caribbean region, Thailand, and across New York City. This experience, together with my educational and professional background in cognitive, behavioral science, and depth psychology, informs my approach to counseling and coaching. I strive to support each individual in a personalized, collaborative, and empathetic manner.

Together, you and I will explore personal issues, recognize problematic patterns, and formulate new options and solutions to reduce stress, build personal agency, create new personal narratives, and improve your quality of life. Client Testimonials

Andreau – is a great mix of empathic listener and stern coach. He has helped me take the deep dives when necessary but also knows when it’s time to get a good pep talk. As a man of color, I appreciate that I can just be myself with him without having to always explain myself.

30 y.o. Male, Educator

My now husband and I began working with Andreau weeks before our wedding. At the time, I felt almost desperate to work through some of the longstanding issues in our relationship prior to our nuptials. His expert guidance allowed us to make significant progress in a relatively short period of time. He was supportive, but also held each of us accountable while simultaneously facilitating positive transformations within our relationship. The skills we learned through our work with Andreau was crucial to the success of our first year of marriage.

When it came time for me to re-enter individual therapy recently, there was no one else I even considered working with. Unlike therapists I’ve worked with previously, Andreau is both effective and seems genuinely invested in my life and well-being. I always leave sessions with him feeling hopeful and our conversations always leave me with things to process. The perspective he offers is unparalleled and him being so good at his job has changed my view of therapy and therapists in general. I couldn’t recommend him more highly!

Andreau is a thoughtful and attentive counselor. He is patient with my pace of progress but is always guiding me in the direction I need to go. He has been a true partner to help me grow to make significant changes in my life and help me believe in my potential.
